Environmental Design

Natural, sculptural forms have been at the core of Guy Greenfield’s design throughout his career. The shapes of the various components of a building are balanced in consideration of the whole sculptural form and the environmental features of the surrounding site. The essence of the internal and external spaces come from the views and the use of light.

Sustainability

Living in an era where our current global energy use is in no way sustainable, Guy Greenfield Architects believe it is vital to enhance natural energy within design. In light of this, design is wholly orientated towards maximising passive solar gains and enhancing thermal performance. Renewable energy sources are used throughout, as energy for sites such as the Sun Houses are generated through air source heat pumps. The efficiency of a building and its environmental credentials are prioritised over the cost of equipment and materials; always utilising local suppliers to reduce our carbon footprint.
