Designed and developed by the practice, the stunning south facing views to the sea are maintained from deep within the building with forward facing glazing joining the ‘sail’ like slate panels. A bungalow was purchased and demolished and replaced with high end value contemporary apartments with an underground garage. A large section of rock was dug out of the cliff to ‘insert’ the building. The idea of the curved side panels clad in second hand Delabole slate was to admit light into the relatively deep plan whilst giving the spaces a view to the sea. Energy consumption has been minimised by use of natural daylight and ventilation and communal heating. GDV 3.1M.
Sustainable and natural materials including reclaimed timber and slate, render and copper have been used to compliment the Cornish Vernacular.
